Dear Reader, Anyone who's ever heard Pavarotti blow the doors off a concert hall with the stunning conclusion of Puccini's Nessun Dorma knows that opera music has the ability to move the heart. (And in Pavarotti's case, move it to another zip code.) In a new study from (where else?) Italy, researchers examined the effects that different types of opera and classical music have on cardiovascular measures. As reported by the BBC, when 24 healthy subjects were monitored while listening to a random selection of classical pieces, researchers noted clear physical changes. Fast tempo prompted increased blood pressure and faster breathing and heart rates. Slower tempo lowered blood pressure and brought down heart and breathing rates. Their conclusion: Quiet, soothing music is actually NOT the best music for the heart. Music that modulates between slower and faster tempos, as well as lower and higher volumes (something like Nessun Dorma, for instance), has the most advantageous effects on heart rate and general circulation. But here's where it gets interesting… ------------------------- ------------------------- ----------- Listening time ------------------------- ------------------------- ----------- Commenting on the Italian study, Diana Greenman (who heads up a UK charity that brings live music to hospitals and hospices) told the BBC: "I hear time and again of stroke patients who suddenly are able to move in time to the music after previously being paralyzed." Now THAT'S pretty amazing! So I followed a link in the BBC piece to a 2008 article that detailed a remarkable study from the University of Helsinki. Researchers recruited 60 stroke patients, and each began their participation as soon as possible after their stroke. Divided into three groups, some patients listened to whatever music they liked, some patients listened to audio books, and some patients had no specific listening plan. Meanwhile, all subjects received standard protocols for stroke rehabilitation. After three months, testing showed that focused attention and mental operation abilities improved by 17 percent in the music group, but didn't improve at all in the other two groups. Verbal memory scores were even more impressive: Music group: 60 percent improvement. Audio books group: 18 percent. Non-listening group: 29 percent. Subjects in the music group also tended to be less confused and less depressed than subjects in the other two groups. Lead researcher of the study told the BBC that in the weeks after a stroke, patients are typically inactive much of the time, providing a perfect music-listening opportunity. ------------------------- ------------------------- ----------- No downside ------------------------- ------------------------- ----------- At the end of the BBC article, several readers submitted comments that offer real-life confirmation of the study results. For one man, a motorcycle accident prompted brain bleeding followed by a stroke that left him unable to move one side of his body and unable to speak. But when the radio was on he could sing along with familiar songs. A woman in India suffered a severe stroke that left her with a "major speech deficit" and limited vocabulary. But her daughter reports that she can recall and sing some of her favorite songs. One stroke expert told the BBC that more research is needed before widespread use of music as therapy can be recommended for stroke victims. This caution is pretty laughable unless someone can produce any evidence at all of a single adverse side effect of music (with the possible exception of getting the Macarena song stuck in your brain for a full afternoon). |

Bears In The Woods! In light of the rising frequency of human conflicts with bears in the field, the Department of Fish and Game is advising hikers, hunters, and fishermen to take extra precautions and be observant. They advise that outdoorsmen wear noisy little bells on their clothing, so as not to startle bears that aren't expecting them. They also advise outdoorsmen to carry pepper spray with them in case of an encounter with a bear. It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of bear activity. Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear dung. Black bear dung is smaller and contains lots of berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear dung has little bells in it and smells like pepper spray. |

Vacationing Near Transylvania
Bob Hill and his new wife Betty were vacationing in Europe, as it happens, near Transylvania. They were driving in a rental car along a rather deserted highway. It was late and raining very hard. Bob could barely see the road in front of the car. Suddenly the car skids out of control! Bob attempts to control the car, but to no avail! The car swerves and smashes into a tree.
Moments later, Bob shakes his head to clear the fog. Dazed, he looks over at the passenger seat and sees his wife unconscious with her head bleeding! Despite the rain and unfamiliar countryside, Bob knows he has to get her medical assistance.
Bob carefully picks his wife up and begins trudging down the road. After a short while, he sees a light. He heads towards the light which is coming from a large old house. He approaches the door and knocks.
A minute passes. A small hunched man opens the door. Bob immediately blurts, "Hello, my name is Bob Hill and this is my wife Betty. We've been in a terrible accident and my wife has been seriously hurt. Can I please use your phone?"
"I'm sorry," replied the hunchback, "but we don't have a phone. My master is a doctor; come in and I will get him!"
Bob brings his wife in.
An older man comes down the stairs. "I'm afraid my assistant may have misled you. I am not a medical doctor; I am a scientist. However, it is many miles to the nearest clinic, and I have had basic medical training. I will see what I can do. Igor, bring them down to the laboratory."
With that, Igor picks up Betty and carries her downstairs with Bob following closely. Igor places Betty on a table in the lab. Bob collapses from exhaustion and his own injuries so Igor places Bob on an adjoining table.
After a brief examination, Igor's master looks worried. "Things are serious, Igor. Prepare a transfusion. " Igor and his master work feverishly, but to no avail. Bob and Betty Hill are no more.
The Hills' deaths upset Igor's master greatly. Wearily he climbs the steps to his conservatory which houses his grand piano, for it is here that he has always found solace. He begins to play and a stirring, almost haunting melody fills the house.
Meanwhile, Igor is still in the lab tidying up. His eyes catch movement and he notices the fingers on Betty's hand twitch keeping time to the haunting piano music. Stunned he watches as Bob's arm begins to rise marking the beat! He is further amazed as Betty and Bob both sit up straight!
Unable to contain himself, he dashes up the stairs to the conservatory.
He bursts in and shouts to his master:
"Master, Master! The Hills are alive with the sound of music!"
(I am soooooo sorry...... but you really should've seen that coming.)

How Can Someone Who Lives in Insane Luxury Be a Star in Today's World? As I begin to write this, I 'slug' it, as we writers say, which means I put a heading on top of the document to identify it. This heading is 'eonlineFINAL,' and it gives me a shiver to write it. I have been doing this column for so long that I cannot even recall when I started. I loved writing this column so much for so long I came to believe it would never end. It worked well for a long time, but gradually, my changing as a person and the world's change have overtaken it. On a small scale, Morton's, while better than ever, no longer attracts as many stars as it used to. It still brings in the rich people in droves and definitely some stars. I saw Samuel L. Jackson there a few days ago, and we had a nice visit, and right before that, I saw and had a splendid talk with Warren Beatty in an elevator, in which we agreed that Splendor in the Grass was a super movie. But Morton's is not the star galaxy it once was, though it probably will be again. Beyond that, a bigger change has happened. I no longer think Hollywood stars are terribly important. They are uniformly pleasant, friendly people, and they treat me better than I deserve to be treated. But a man or woman who makes a huge wage for memorizing lines and reciting them in front of a camera is no longer my idea of a shining star we should all look up to. How can a man or woman who makes an eight-figure wage and lives in insane luxury really be a star in today's world, if by a 'star' we mean someone bright and powerful and attractive as a role model? Real stars are not riding around in the backs of limousines or in Porsches or getting trained in yoga or Pilates and eating only raw fruit while they have Vietnamese girls do their nails. They can be interesting, nice people, but they are not heroes to me any longer. A real star is the soldier of the 4th Infantry Division who poked his head into a hole on a farm near Tikrit , Iraq . He could have been met by a bomb or a hail of AK-47 bullets. Instead, he faced an abject Saddam Hussein and the gratitude of all of the decent people of the world. A real star is the U.S. soldier who was sent to disarm a bomb next to a road north of Baghdad . He approached it, and the bomb went off and killed him. A real star, the kind who haunts my memory night and day, is the U.S. soldier in Baghdad who saw a little girl playing with a piece of unexploded ordinance on a street near where he was guarding a station. He pushed her aside and threw himself on it just as it exploded. He left a family desolate in California and a little girl alive in Baghdad . The stars who deserve media attention are not the ones who have lavish weddings on TV but the ones who patrol the streets of Mosul even after two of their buddies were murdered and their bodies battered and stripped for the sin of trying to protect Iraqis from terrorists. We put couples with incomes of $100 million a year on the covers of our magazines. The noncoms and officers who barely scrape by on military pay but stand on guard in Afghanistan and Iraq and on ships and in submarines and near the Arctic Circle are anonymous as they live and die. I am no longer comfortable being a part of the system that has such poor values, and I do not want to perpetuate those values by pretending that who is eating at Morton's is a big subject. There are plenty of other stars in the American firmament...the policemen and women who go off on patrol in South Central and have no idea if they will return alive; the orderlies and paramedics who bring in people who have been in terrible accidents and prepare them for surgery; the teachers and nurses who throw their whole spirits into caring for autistic children; the kind men and women who work in hospices and in cancer wards. Think of each and every fireman who was running up the stairs at the World Trade Center as the towers began to collapse. Now you have my idea of a real hero. I came to realize that life lived to help others is the only one that matters. This is my highest and best use as a human. I can put it another way. Years ago, I realized I could never be as great an actor as Olivier or as good a comic as Steve Martin..or Martin Mull or Fred Willard--or as good an economist as Samuelson or Friedman or as good a writer as Fitzgerald. Or even remotely close to any of them. But I could be a devoted father to my son, husband to my wife and, above all, a good son to the parents who had done so much for me. This came to be my main task in life. I did it moderately well with my son, pretty well with my wife and well indeed with my parents (with my sister's help). I cared for and paid attention to them in their declining years. I stayed with my father as he got sick, went into extremis and then into a coma and then entered immortality with my sister and me reading him the Psalms. This was the only point at which my life touched the lives of the soldiers in Iraq or the firefighters in New York . I came to realize that life lived to hel p others is the only one that matters and that it is my duty, in return for the lavish life God has devolved upon me, to help others He has placed in my path. How much more bad news do we have to get about HRT before it's finally banned? Remember several years ago, when directors of the Women's Health Initiative study put the brakes on their research and told the women involved to stop taking HRT? They had seen a spike in the risks of breast cancer, blood clots, stroke, and heart attack. And just last month ("World's most fatal cancer made more deadly with HRT," 6/10/09) I told you about the study that showed that hormone users who developed lung cancer were 60% more likely to die from the disease than women who weren't taking hormones. Yet doctors just kept on prescribing it, possibly writing out death sentences for countless women! And the news hasn't gotten any better since then. The latest comes from Denmark, where a study of ALL Danish women aged 50-79 from 1995-2005 revealed that women on hormone therapy had a 38% increased risk of ovarian cancer. It didn't make a difference what formulation, regimen, or type of progestin was used. Ovarian cancer is highly fatal. If you know someone who is still using HRT, it's not too late—risk of ovarian cancer declined with longer time since HRT use. There ARE other—safer—o ptions. Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy uses hormones identical to those found in women's bodies. And some research has shown that it can actually reduce your Alzheimer's risk. On page 425 it says in black and white that EVERYONE on Social Security, (will include all Senior Citizens and SSI people) will go to MANDATORY counseling every 5 years to learn and to choose from ways to end your suffering (and your life).
Health care will be denied based on age. $500 Billion will be cut from Senior's healthcare. The only way for that to happen is to drastically cut health care, the oldest and the sickest will be cut first. Paying for your own care will not be an option. V.A. health care for military veterans will be merged into the National Health Care plan, and V.A hospitals will be closed, in order to save money and avoid 'duplicate' health care systems ! |

God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him, resting on the seventh day.

I had told my doctor I was having severe stomach and acid problems for 4 years, before he finally heard me, and put me on Prevacid...It really seemed a Miracle!! but at $100.00 for 30 pills, I couldn't afford it. He supplied me until I could make a Mexican connection, and get my pills from there...I took them daily for 4 or 5 years,...but...cured the problem when I began taking some Enzymes.. I decided to skip the generic "Prevacid" a couple days, and never went back to it...that was 2 years ago!!
Perhaps the Acid-Reflux problem is caused by a lack of enzymes!!!

Mandatory Vaccination Remember, in a Pandemic Emergency Vaccination Situation, THERE WILL BE NO EXEMPTIONS FOR ANY REASON
Sue for an injunction? Rely on your Sheriff to protect you? Complain to the FBI? Everybody’s jumping on the band wagon… and that is a good thing! Code Red: FDA Approves Dangerous Blood Thinner
Again I have to wonder who the FDA is protecting…because it certainly isn’t us.
Late Friday, the FDA announced that they were approving a new drug — Effient, Eli Lilly’s new blood thinner — even though this drug comes with extremely dangerous and potentially deadly risks.
The drug is so dangerous that the FDA has technically approved it only for specific patients, people getting angioplasty. Here’s the catch: In the study the approval was based on, patients taking Effient faced “a greater risk of significant, sometimes fatal bleeding” when compared to Plavix, a top-selling blood thinner. On top of that, patients who’d already had strokes faced a higher risk of suffering another stroke if they took Effient.
Are the risks worth it? Nope. Not at all. Because while Effient slightly reduced the risk of non-fatal heart attacks, the number of deaths was “similar” with both drugs. So Effient doesn’t really work better, and it increases your risk of repeat stroke and fatal bleeding.
The only possible explanations for this approval: Insanity. Stupidity. Money. (I’m betting on the third.)
Bottom line: If you’re heading for angioplasty, make sure the doctor doesn’t use Effient.

From: Nutrition and Healing They reviewed the studies themselves. And found that three of the four linked Lantus (artificial insulin) to an increased risk of cancer. But the FDA is urging people to stay on the drug. The share price of Sanofi-Aventis, the company that makes Lantus, sank 12.3% once people started speculating that this news was coming. A study in Sweden involving 114,841 insulin-treated patients found that those on Lantus were almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer as those on human insulin. A German study of 127,031 people found malignancies were more common in patients treated with Lantus than those treated with human insulin. One of the co-authors noted that this isn't absolute proof, but that it arouses "an urgent suspicion which should have consequences for the treatment of patients." The FDA doesn't seem to think so. At least, not right away. Instead, they're saying the studies are inconclusive— pointing out "inconsistencies&quo t; and saying the studies didn't track patients long enough. And as soon as they started spinning the doubt, Sanofi-Aventis' stock price rose slightly. Well, except for the fact that Lantus was up against natural insulin in these studies... Of course, the FDA wants us all to know that they're currently reviewing "many sources" of safety data for the drug. And of course they're keeping the manufacturer in the loop—discussing whether any additional studies will be needed. Oh, and they'll be sure to let us know the results "as appropriate." If you ask me, I'd rather not wait around for the FDA to decide when it's "appropriate" for me to know if a drug is going to give me cancer. If I were on Lantus, I'd be talking to my doctor about switching to natural insulin right away. |

Very few people realize that the worst epidemic ever to hit America, the Spanish Influenza of 1918 was the after effect of the massive nation-wide vaccine campaign. The doctors told the people that the disease was caused by germs. Viruses were not known at that time or they would have been blamed. Germs, bacteria and viruses, along with bacilli and a few other invisible organisms are the scapegoats, which the doctors like to blame for the things they do not understand. If the doctor makes a wrong diagnosis and treatment, and kills the patient, he can always blame it on the germs, and say the patient didn’t get an early diagnosis and come to him in time. If we check back in history to that 1918 flu period, we will see that it suddenly struck just after the end of World War I when our soldiers were returning home from overseas.. That was the first war in which all the known vaccines were forced on all the servicemen. Vaccine has always been big business, and so it was continued doggedly. It was a shorter war than the vaccine-makers had planned on, only about a year for us, so the vaccine promoters had a lot of unused, spoiling vaccines left over which they wanted to sell at a good profit. So they did what they usually do, they called a meeting behind closed doors, and plotted the whole sordid program, a nationwide (worldwide) vaccination drive using all their vaccines, and telling the people that the soldiers were coming home with many dread diseases contracted in foreign countries and that it was the patriotic duty of every man, woman and child to get “protected” by rushing down to the vaccination centers and having all the shots. Most people believe their doctors and government officials, and do what they say. The result was, that almost the entire population submitted to the shots without question, and it was only a matter of hours until people began dropping dead in agony, while many others collapsed with a disease of such virulence that no one had ever seen anything like it before. They had all the characteristics of the diseases they had been vaccinated against, the high fever, chills, pain, cramps, diarrhea, etc. of typhoid, and the pneumonia like lung and throat congestion of diphtheria and the vomiting, headache, weakness and misery of hepatitis from the jungle fever shots, and the outbreak of sores on the skin from the smallpox shots, along with paralysis from all the shots, etc. The doctors were baffled, and claimed they didn’t know what caused the strange and deadly disease, and they certainly had no cure. They should have known the underlying cause was the vaccinations, because the same thing happened to the soldiers after they had their shots at camp. The typhoid fever shots caused a worse form of the disease, which they called para-typhoid. Then they tried to suppress the symptoms of that one with a stronger vaccine, which caused a still more serious disease, which killed and disabled a great many men. The combination of all the poison vaccines fermenting together in the body, caused such violent reactions that they could not cope with the situation. Disaster ran rampant in the camps. Some of the military hospitals were filled with nothing but paralyzed soldiers, and they were called war casualties, even before they left American soil. I talked to some of the survivors of that vaccine onslaught when they returned home after the war, and they told of the horrors, not of the war itself, and battles, but of the sickness at camp. The doctors didn’t want this massive vaccine disease to reflect on them, so they, agreed among themselves to call it Spanish Influenza. Spain was a far away place and some of the soldiers had been there, so the idea of calling it Spanish Influenza seemed to be a good way to lay the blame on someone else. The Spanish resented having us name the world scourge on them. They knew the flu didn’t originate in their country. 20,000,000 died of that flu epidemic, worldwide, and it seemed to be almost universal or as far away as the vaccinations reached. Greece and a few other countries, which did not accept the vaccines, were the only ones that were not hit by the flu. Doesn’t that prove something? At home (in the U.S.) the situation was the same; the only ones who escaped the influenza were those who had refused the vaccinations. My family and 1 were among the few who persisted in refusing the high pressure sales propaganda, and none of us had the flu not even a sniffle, in spite of the fact that it was all around us, and in the bitter cold of winter. Everyone seemed to have it. The whole town was down sick and dying. The hospitals were closed because the doctors and nurses were down with the flu.. Everything was closed, schools, businesses, post office everything. No one was on the streets. It was like a ghost town. There were no doctors to care for the sick, so my parents went from house to house doing what they could to help the stricken in any way they could. They spent all day and part of the night for weeks, in the sick rooms, and came home only to eat and sleep. If germs or viruses, bacteria, or any other little organisms were the cause of that disease, they had plenty of opportunity to latch onto my parents and “lay them low” with the disease that had prostrated the world. But germs were not the cause of that or any other disease, so they didn’t “catch” it. I have talked to a few other people since that time, who said they escaped the 1918 flu, so I asked if they had the shots, and in every case, they said they had never believed in shots and had never had any of them. Common sense tells us that all those toxic vaccines all mixed up together in people, could not help but cause extreme body-poisoning and poisoning of some kind or another is usually the cause of disease. Whenever a person coughs or sneezes, most people cringe, thinking that the germs are being spread around in the air and will attack people. And our Push Back may even be impacting the plans of those who control Congress. In order to get HR 2749 out of committee, the sponsors had to allow an exemption into the bill -- breaching their hard line position that all food producers were to be treated like industrialized Agrabiz. That exemption covers any "food (i) produced on a farm; and (ii) sold ...directly to a consumer or restaurant." While it is not as strong as we'd advise (actually, we advise that the bill be defeated!) we were the first to call for explicit protective language for family farms, natural, organic, home, etc. food production and processing -- and your Push Back made this exemption possible! The bill must still be defeated, but along the way, we want to see the exemptions strengthened!
NOW is the time to pour on the Push Back heat. Now, when every member of Congress and State Legislature is aware of these issues. Now, while the horrifying FDA-Can-Declare-Martial-L aw-And-Seize-Your-Propert y HR 2749 is being treated as if it were not controversial, now, while the phony "Swine Flu" is on everyone's lips (even under their masks!), NOW is the moment when our Push Back, coupled with helping every single person you know to take similar action, can have the greatest impact.
Self-Shielding is Your Right!
You know that Health and Health Freedom are under multiple attacks, rather like a castle being attacked by infantry swarming over the walls, catapults slamming into the towers, corpses dumped into the wells to poison the water and flaming arrows arcing high over the walls to land in the thatch roofs of the homes within the walls.
Under Common Law, which the Constitution of these United States says is to be respected, your Home IS your Castle and you are inviolate within it. Both the UN Declaration of Universal Rights and the Geneva Conventions agree. But, just as so many other protections and strong walls of freedom are being breached, so your home is about to be breeched. Under current legislation, there will be no vaccine exemptions for any reason. You will either take the vaccine, weaponized and dangerous as it is, or you run the very real risk of relocation, incarceration, isolation, quarantine and God knows what else. One thing for sure, a vaccine refuser will be viewed as somehow disloyal and there is no reason to think the food, conditions or treatment will support your health!
Like a prophet running around in rags inside the castle being breached sobbing, "Repent ye, repent ye", there are well-meaning people propagating petitions to refuse vaccines which have the right sentiment, but no political impact whatsoever. There are well meaning people telling you that because 48 States have vaccine exemption options, the "Pandemic Emergency"vaccinatio n will, too. They are governed by different laws and we believe that there will be no exemptions for them.
Taken together with the fact that virtually every country of which we are aware is either ordering 2 shots of the untested, unsafe and unnecessary Swine Flu vaccine from some vaccine company or other (and there are apparently 89 different Swine Flu vaccine trials running at the moment!) the race is on to corral us all into either a vaccination line or a relocation line. These are the vaccines that the FDA wants you to believe are, along with Tamiflu and its cousin Relenza, the ONLY ways to protect and treat Swine Flu. You remember that I told you in one of my earlier reports that we are no longer permitted to discuss Nano silver in this light, so we are not discussing it in that light.
