An old prospector shuffled into town leading an old tired mule. The old man headed
straight for the only saloon in town to clear his parched throat.

He walked up to the saloon and tied his old mule to the hitch rail. As he stood there
brushing some of the dust from his face and clothes, a young gunslinger stepped out
of the saloon with a gun in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other.

The young gunslinger looked at the old man and laughed, saying, 'Hey old man, have
you ever danced?'

The old man looked up at the gunslinger and said, 'No, I never did dance,just never wanted to.'

A crowd had gathered quickly and the gunslinger grinned and said, 'Well, you old fool,
you're gonna' dance now,' and started shooting at the old man's feet. The old prospector
in order to not get a toe blow off or his boots perforated was soon hopping around like a
flea on a hot skillet and everybody was laughing fit to be tied.

When the last bullet had been fired the young gunslinger, still laughing, holstered his
gun and turned around to go back into the saloon. The old man turned to his pack mule,
pulled out a double barreled shotgun, and cocked both hammers back. The loud, audible
double clicks carried clearly through the desert air.

The crowd stopped laughing immediately. The young gunslinger heard the sounds, too,
and he turned around very slowly. The quiet was almost deafening.

The crowd watched as the young gunman stared at the old timer and the large gaping
holes of those twin barrels. He found it hard to swallow. The barrels of the shotgun
never wavered in the old man's hands.

The old man said, 'Son, did you ever kiss a mule's ass?'

The boy bully swallowed hard and said, 'No. But I've always wanted to.'

There are two lessons for us all:

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year. The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. Candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations, and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia's turn to speak. Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream." She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide. (I wish there had been a finish like...she never did give them ice cream...just promises only!!!)

John was so proud of Hussein, he entered him in the Renfrew County Fair and he became an overnight sensation among the judges.

The result was the judges not only awarded Hussein the No Bell Piece

Prize but they also awarded him the Pulletsurprise as well.

Clearly Hussein was a politician in the making.

Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the

most highly coveted awards on our planet by being the best at

sneaking up on the populace and putting it to them when they weren't paying attention.

Take Action: Senate Misses Pivotal Moment For Meaningful Patriot Act Reform

Last week, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed a Patriot Act reauthorization bill, the USA Patriot Act Extension Act of 2009, that made very minor changes to the overly broad surveillance law.

Instead of using this pivotal moment to rein in some of the worst abuses of the law, particularly in the overuse of National Security Letters (NSLs), the bill reinforces the government's ability to snoop through our communications, private records and our homes unabated.

Because three sections of the Patriot are due to expire on December 31 of this year, Congress is obligated to act -- but, it is profoundly disappointing that the current bill does almost nothing to protect Americans' privacy rights.

The ACLU has endorsed the JUSTICE Act, an alternative bill that would heavily reform not only the Patriot Act but other surveillance laws. Unfortunately, the Senate Judiciary Committee chose a weaker bill to work with. We anticipate that the Senate bill will move to final consideration in that chamber in the coming weeks.

What's next? The House has yet to act at all. We have only two and a half months before three sections of the Patriot Act expire, and civil libertarians in the House of Representatives have yet to introduce a Patriot Act reform bill. We have been hard at work on Capitol Hill and in the halls of Congress communicating the ACLU's vision for scaled-back and constitutional government surveillance guidelines.

Now is the time for progressive and libertarian Members of Congress to step up and introduce the JUSTICE Act, or a similarly progressive bill, and get moving on its passage to ensure that there is an alternative to the watered-down Senate bill.

Time is running out to get these bills through the legislative process - committee consideration, negotiations between the House and the Senate, final passage in both chambers, and the President's signature.

Looking back, we've seen Congress cave to the will of the executive too many times to count. We must not let Congress pass the USA Patriot Act Extension Act as it stands now.

About a year ago, I had just read the book, "An Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore and was stunned by the start date of these things...1960!

You make take this with a grain of salt, and a snicker or two if you wish, but the Lord spoke to me in 1960 saying. "I am bringing the nations under judgment, unless they repent and turn back to me." I did not really understand what this meant at the time, but every year after that, things got worse and worse! I would say to people, "you think this year is bad, just wait till next year! It will be worse!" And it was!!

I certainly didn't know the cause would be called, "Global Warming" because to me it was simply an Act of God.

The year 1960 also stands out, because it is the year abortion became the law of the land!

Then in 1970 he spoke to me again saying, "up to now I have only allowed material damage, with very little loss of life, now I will begin taking lives."

It was true! The floods, hurricanes, fires, earthquakes etc. caused very little loss of life, only material damage! But after 1970 more and more lives were lost in the catastrophe's!

The 1973 Rapid City flood cost 250 lives alone! And every year there have been more and more lives lost in these things. We have not repented or turned back to God, so it's going to continue, and get far worse!!

I believe the continuing political climate, and degeneration of our political systems, the continuing loss of our freedoms, and the coming enslavement of our people is just one more part of the same problem! He always sent Israel enslavement, when they turned away from Him, so should we expect less??? Unless we Repent and turn back to God, our total situation can only continue it's downward spiral...The Choice Is Up to us!! It's what we all need to do!!! There is no other CURE!!!! Let us begin!!!

Mainstream Medicine Attacks Colloidal Silver   & nbsp;

(NaturalNews) Prior to the advent of patentable and more profitable antibiotics,
 medicines containing silver were the most widely prescribed infection fighters
by doctors and there were no fewer than 34 different approved prescription and
over the counter medications which contained silver. Now, after the elimination
of most large particle and silver nitrate products and after improved technology
 has made nano-sized particles that require far less parts per million, colloidal
silver proponents claim that it is safer and more effective than ever. At the
same time, however, it has become the subject of increasing attacks by mainstream
medicine, which labels colloidal silver as a scam, as quackery and as a dangerous
 substance with no proven value.

When it is pointed out that colloidal and nano-silver are used by NASA, Potters
 for Peace, the Hong Kong Subway System, Cure-Aid, and major hospital burn units,
 the detractors often concede that perhaps it works externally; however, they
maintain that when it is taken internally it causes dangerous toxicity due to
silver build-up. In a familiar refrain when it comes to silver and other
alternatives to mainstream drugs, it is also claimed that colloidal silver taken
 internally has no "scientifically" ; proven benefits. One of the most widely
publicized warnings is that colloidal silver causes people to turn blue due to
a skin condition known as argyria.

Yet, the EPA says that 90-95% of ingested silver particles are eliminated from
the body within two days and 99% are gone within a week (1). Furthermore, the
bluest of the blue people, "Papa Smurf" Paul Karason was given a clean bill of
 health at Mount Sinai Hospital. (2) Karason, like the Montana senator who has
 bluish skin, did not actually take colloidal silver. Instead, he took large
quantities of home-made ionic silver made with tap water and contaminated with
salt for a prolonged period of time.

When it comes to scientific studies regarding the benefits of internal silver,
last year it was reported that researchers in Hungary found specific silver
receptors on human tissue - an indication that silver plays an important role
in human health. (3) A joint study between the University of Texas and Mexico
University published in the Journal of Nanotechnology showed that silver
nano-particles of sizes 1-10nm attached to HIV-1 prevented the virus from
bonding to host cells. (4)

Another study, conducted by the Department of Microbiology at Kyungpook National
 University in Daegu, Korea, and published in the prestigious Journal of
Microbiology and Biotechnology, found that nano-silver was comparable in
effectiveness to Amphotericin B, one of the most powerful prescription antifungal
drugs known to man, which is often used intravenously to cure serious systemic
fungal infections. The same study also found that nano-silver was superior to
the well-known anti-fungal drug fluconazole (popularly known as Diflucan). (5)

In a recently completed study conducted by researchers from the Washington
 University School of Medicine and the University of Akron, Ohio, and presented
 at the 105th International Conference of the American Thoracic Society,
researchers infected a group of mice with the bacteria Pseudomona aeroginosa.
Psuedomona aeroginosa is a common cause of bacterial pneumonia in humans,
especially those on ventilators, those with cystic fibrosis or those with
compromised immune systems. Once infected, all the mice then inhaled aerosolized
nano-particles once per day. In half of the mice, these particles contained
antimicrobial particles known as silver carbene complexes (SCCs).

Mice that inhaled the SCCs had significantly lower concentrations of bacteria
in their lungs than mice inhaling placebo nano-particles. Most significantly,
none of the mice in the SCC group died, while all the mice in the control group
 did. (6)

Were all those doctors who prescribed silver products and the scientists who
conducted the studies liars, scammers and/or quacks? Or could it be that
mainstream medicine and its advocates are attacking colloidal silver because
 it really does represent a threat to the hundreds of billions in profits
from patented drugs?

Meanwhile millions of people around the world are taking colloidal silver
and reporting cures of pneumonia, staph, candida, MRSA, Chrohns, Lyme, the
H1N1 flu, and much more.

Women who take hormone replacement drugs to fight the symptoms of menopause may increase their risk of dying if they develop lung cancer, according to an eight-year study.

The study of more than 16,600 postmenopausal women found that those with lung cancer who took hormone-replacement therapy drugs that combined both estrogen and progesterone were 71 percent more likely to die than those who had taken a placebo.

The study of strikes another blow against such drugs, which have developed a bad reputation during the past few years as studies linked them with an increased risk of developing breast cancer, ovarian cancer, strokes, and heart problems. Experts say the study results make sense because estrogen could increase the blood flow to tumors and lessen the effectiveness of cancer prevention treatments.

Among women taking the drugs, the greatest risk of dying from lung cancer was for those 60 to 79, although the risk of actually developing lung cancer wasn't increased.

"These findings should be considered before the initiation or continuation of combined hormone therapy in postmenopausal women, especially those with a high risk of lung cancer, such as current smokers or long-term past smokers," Dr. Town Chlebowski  of the UCLA Medical Center and his research colleagues wrote in "The Lancet."

"These results seriously question whether hormone-replacement therapy has any role in medicine today," said Dr. Apar Kishor Ganti of the University of Nebraska, who wrote a commentary in "The Lancet." "It is difficult to presume that the benefits of routine use of such therapy for menopausal symptoms outweigh the increased risks of mortality."

Vitamin D Prevents Falls in Seniors

Important news for seniors: A daily dose of vitamin D cuts your risk of falling substantially, researchers say.

But not just any dose will do.

"It takes 700 to 1,000 international units of vitamin D per day - and nothing less will work," Dr. Heike A. Bischoff-Ferrari, who directs the Center on Aging and Mobility at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, noted in an e-mail to Reuters Health Friday.

Those recommendations, which are higher than those from the U.S. Institute of Medicine, are  based on the results of eight studies that looked at vitamin D supplements for fall prevention among more than 2,400 adults 65 and older. Falls were not reduced notably with daily doses of vitamin D lower than 700 IU.

An analysis of all eight studies, posted online in the British Medical Journal, add weight to several others that have shown that vitamin D improves strength and balance, and bone health in the elderly, the researchers note.

"Falls are important events to prevent," Bischoff-Ferrari said, "and 700 to 1,000 IU of vitamin D per day is safe and inexpensive."

However, the  Institute of Medicine recommends 400 IU (oil based) a day for adults between 51 and 70, and 600 a day for those 70 and over.)
