In Shakespeare's time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes.
When you pulled on the ropes the mattress tightened, making the bed firmer to sleep on. Hence the phrase......... 'goodnight, sleep tight.'

No!!! That's new to me!! but I don't doubt it a bit!! I don't play cards...I'm a sore loser, so if I can't win...I won't play!! or something like that!!
